Zscaler Proxy PAC Ports

(Rajeev Srikant) #1

Below is the documentation from Zscaler.

ZENs accept web requests on ports 80, 443, 9400, 9480 and 9443.

Does that means when using Zscaler PAC file, only the above ports are supported ?
Is it not possible to use any custom ports ?
Should we use only from the above mentioned ports.

Other than the above ports, you can look for dedicated proxy ports(DPP). And subscription required to use the DPP ports.

Hi Rajeev,

You can find the difference of each of the port at https://ips.zscaler.net/ -> FW config requirements.

In the PAC file, you can only use these port numbers, unless you have subscribed to dedicated proxy port, which is a TCP port number that Zscaler will assign to the customer with such additional paid subscription. If you use other port, there will be chance that we will not accept or handle the traffic according to your company config.

Also, many traditional proxy will use port 8080, but Zscaler has reserved that port for our previous iOS solution, which should not be used for normal web request to the proxy.

Thanks Jones
I gone through the link regarding the ports. What is the recommended port we should use ?
Also what is the advantage of use dedicated proxy port ?

in addition to the above is it possible to use specific port to connect to the Zscaler PAC server
Ex - Can I use as below.

Here I am using port 1812 to connect to Zscaler PAC server.
Let me know if we can configure like the below.

Hi Rajeev,

It is impossible. You can only use port 80 or 443 (https) for your PAC file by default, and you cannot define the support port no for the PAC.
