looks like there is no file type control rule available for txt file type. is there any way for achieving for this?
We do have Text File detection as part of outbound DLP detection.
On FileType control policy, the vast majority of Internet content is transferred via text, and there’s no specific magic byte we can look for as a .txt file download, we don’t check file extensions as they can be easily spoofed. That said, we do parse all text and have specific handlers for items like scripts and markup languages.
Hope that gives you some idea on why you don’t see a specific txt type in FT control, but be assured we do protect against potential exploits than can be triggered via text transport.
Hope that helps give you some clarity.
